Watch our introduction to Origins video
You can’t change the world until you know how the world has changed you.
The experiences that shaped you long before your first leadership role continue to influence how you lead today.
Origins by OSC offers assessments, learning experiences and professional development designed to help make those influences more visible. Not to dwell on the past, but to understand the patterns it created and expand the choices available for the future.

A direct way to experience
OSC’s thinking
OSC works with organizations, teams and individuals through customized leadership development, team development and executive coaching.
Origins by OSC is a growing ecosystem of directly accessible assessments, learning experiences and certification programs, all built around the Origins Map™. It makes selected elements of OSC’s thinking available to people who want to understand their own leadership more deeply, as well as those who support the growth and development of others.
Both are grounded in the same belief: lasting change requires more than learning new behaviors. It begins by understanding the deeper assumptions, habits and patterns shaping how we respond, particularly when pressure is high.
At the heart of Origins
The Origins Map™
Most leadership assessments begin by describing behavior, preferences or personality. The Origins Map™ begins somewhere different.
It explores how formative experiences shaped the assumptions and patterns beneath the way we lead. These experiences influenced what we learned about trust, authority, belonging, emotions, the wider world and ourselves.
Over time, those lessons became part of our inner architecture: the underlying psychological structure through which we interpret relationships, risk, pressure and change.
The Origins Map™ helps make that architecture visible. By understanding where recurring patterns come from, leaders can distinguish between what continues to serve them and what may now be limiting their effectiveness, influence or impact.
- Rules
- How authority, expectations, decisions and control were first understood.
- Belonging
- How inclusion, exclusion, loyalty, comparison and fitting in were learned.
- Trust
- How safety, reliability, vulnerability and dependence were experienced in relationships.
- World
- How wider cultural, social and economic conditions shaped beliefs about risk, fairness, opportunity and possibility.
- Self
- How identity, confidence and self-worth were shaped.
- Emotions
- Which feelings were permitted, suppressed or amplified, and how emotional expression is managed.
What makes Origins different?

Personality is only part of the picture.
Many assessments help people understand their traits, preferences or behavioral tendencies. Origins asks a different question:
How did those patterns develop?
It explores the experiences and meaning beneath behavior, helping leaders understand why certain responses continue to appear even when they know those responses may no longer be useful.
It is not about labeling people or prescribing a particular way to lead. It is about making patterns more understandable, so that what was once automatic can become a matter of more conscious choice.
