Why do leadership teams agree on strategy but struggle in execution?

Updated July 30, 2026

The challenge for most leadership teams is rarely the strategy itself. More often, it is how the team coordinates around it. Assumptions about accountability, authority, risk and decision-making influence how leaders translate strategic intent into day-to-day action.

Many leadership teams leave a discussion believing they are aligned, only to discover later that individuals interpreted decisions differently, prioritized different outcomes or operated from different assumptions about what success looked like. Agreement in a meeting is not the same as alignment in action.

When these assumptions remain unexamined, teams can find themselves revisiting decisions, managing competing priorities and experiencing recurring friction despite having a clear strategy. OSC works with leadership teams to make these dynamics visible, creating conditions for decisions to hold and strategic intent to translate consistently into action.
